Tokyo Adventure | きっこ英会話／きっこイングリッシュスクール

Hi,it’s me,Jake.

Wow! Time flies so fast and I can’t believe it has already been a month! Last October, I went to Tokyo – alone! It was my first solo trip so I’m quite excited to share it to all of you.

Solo Trip

I know that many people want travel to Japan and explore its beauty. I thought that since I’m already here, that’s what I should do! This was my first solo trip and I decided to go to Tokyo because it’s the most famous place in Japan so, I booked a midnight bus, packed my bags and went.

And what a coincidence—my elementary best friend was in Tokyo on the same day!

Interestingly, our houses back in the Philippines are just 10 minutes away from each other but we haven’t seen each other for two years. And after two years of not seeing each other in our country, we saw each other in Tokyo! It’s kind of funny for us and I was always joking her that because she missed me too much, she went all the way here to Japan to see me haha!

So it’s a good thing because I had a companion and not only I had fun going around Tokyo with her but we also had a good time catching up with each other’s lives and activities as well.

Strolling Around

I took the bus at Nagoya Station at around 12:15 and arrived in Tokyo at 6:30 am, Sunday. The city was still sleeping when I arrived. It was cold and no one was outside and the stores were still closed. So I went to my friend’s hotel to meet her and there, we had breakfast and did a little catch up on each other.

Meiji Jingu

After that, we decided to go around famous places in Tokyo. Our first stop was Meiji Jingu since it was still early and all other famous stops are still closed.I’m quite a fan of temples and their architecture, as well as their history so it was interesting.

Shibuya Crossing

The next place we went to was Shibuya Crossing. For me, it was amazing. I could only see this on TV or at the internet. Maybe we looked crazy for the Japanese people because we were crossing many times again and again and taking pictures but I didn’t really care at the time. I just wanted to take a picture at the world’s famous crossing haha! And we also saw the famous Hachiko! There was a line of foreigners wanting to take a picture with the monument but I didn’t think it was worth our time.

Shimokitazawa

After that, we went to Shimokitazawa. I saw in an article that it’s famous for stores and boutiques where you could shop. And we also had our lunch there. It was an interesting place where you could find good food and buy second hand but fashionable wears.

Asakusa Temple

After lunch, we decided to go to the famous Asakusa Temple or Senso-ji, which is said to be the oldest temple in Tokyo. There were quite a lot of foreigners and Japanese people as well when we visited. I also had the chance buy souvenirs in Asakusa.

Gundam Base

We’re not yet done with our sight-seeing! Since my friend’s brother is a fan, we went to the Gundam base in Odaiba where we saw a big Gundam robot and we also went to the Gundam Base store. Growing up, I used to play Gundam in my PSP and it was so amazing that I got to see it in person. It was so cool!! There was also a big Statue of Liberty so I felt like I was in New York too!

Going Home

The day is almost done and we had to get back because I needed to catch my bus going back to Nagoya. I got on the bus that left Tokyo at around 10:00 pm and arrived in Nagoya at 4:00 am. I was sooo tired! Imagine going around Tokyo for a whole day! But it was worth it and I had fun doing it with my bestfriend.

I wish I could stay the night but I needed to work the next day. Maybe I’ll plan a longer trip next time and that time, I’ll make sure to go to Yokohama too!

I love travelling and I would also love to go to Osaka and Hiroshima. Those places are on my list and I’m hoping that I could go there by next year. Any suggestions are welcome and very much appreciated!
