Hello! I hope everyone’s fine after the typhoon last week. These past few days had been rainy too so I guess we’ll be welcoming autumn or fall soon 😊
Jake’s Surprise Birthday Celebration…at work
Last August 30 – Thursday, Teacher Jake turned 22 and despite the hectic schedule in school, we were able to give her a surprise birthday 🎉 cake 🎂 personally baked by Ms. Eimy’s mom (a Big “thanks” to her) and decorated by yours truly 😁. Everyone was present (without her knowledge) Teacher Shella, Tamae Sensei, Chiemi, Ms. Eimy (we miss Laura again!) until we sang the birthday song with the lighted candles on the cake in her classroom.
Another Surprise Celebration…with churchmates and friends
Since it’s her second birthday in Japan and to remind her how many friends she won in the past year, I gave her another surprise birthday celebration at the Karaoke and invited some of our churchmates particularly in the Music Ministry (where she’s a member of). So the drama goes like this: After our church service, I told Jake that I need to go ahead because I have an “important matter” to attend to and I asked our friend Teacher Shella’s mom – Christy to just take her home. But then, Christy invited Jake to a karaoke party with the other church member (but she didn’t know it was her own party). So I went ahead to Karaoke and bought “take-out” food from KFC and ordered pizza. When they arrived at the karaoke, I wasn’t there so it will really be a surprise. I asked one of my friends to get a birthday cake since I didn’t have much time to do it myself and she was kind enough to do the favor. When she arrived, we went inside the karaoke room with the cake while singing the birthday song.
This were my little surprises to my beloved baby sister! I may not express it that often to her how much she brought happiness into the family. I really wished for a baby sister when I was younger (to be my playmate) though she came a bit “late” – the moment I was already starting my own family and so she wasn’t my playmate anymore but my kids’ already 😂 that’s why she’s always mistaken as my daughter by many (well, I don’t really care 😭). The baby I carried in my arms when I was twenty years old is now making her own path as an educator with me…How time flies! ( and now you can compute my age 😆).
By the way, I don’t really like surprises very much 😂 ❤️ 🎉 🎂
