簡単に材料ですぐにできますよ。
ぜひ、子どもたちと一緒に
家でやってみてね！
We believe that learning should not be limited in lectures and in the classroom only. Here in Kikko English School, we always look for fun and exciting ways on how our students can learn from us.
That’s why last week, together with our students, we did and experiment! This experiment is called floating coin experiment. It’s an easy to do experiment with easy to find materials. You could do this at home with your kids too!
Materials（材料）
材料はたったのこれだけ
We only need three materials and you could easily find them at home:
- Basin
- ¥1 coins
- Water
That’s it! We’re now ready to do this experiment!
Procedure（手順）
- First, we put water in the basin.
- Second, we carefully put a coin on the water. Make sure that the coin will float and won’t sink!
- That’s it! The challenge is, don’t let the coins sink!
まず、平たい容器に水を入れます。
次に、気を付けてゆっくりと、コインを水に入れます。
コインが浮いて沈んでいないことを確認してください！
それでおしまい！
English Phrases You Could Use
Easy, right? To make this more challenging, we divided the class into two groups and had a game on which group could make more coins float! So exciting!
Now, aside from this activity being fun and interesting, you could also learn and practice English with your with your kids while doing it.
First, you could ask your kids to identify the materials that you’re going to use. And then, here are some English phrases that we used and that you could also use throughout the experiment:

Additional phrases include:
- Let’s make it float!
- Don’t let it sink!
- This is hard.
- This is easy.
- I won! / We won!
- It’s floating!
- Oh no, it sank.
フレーズ
- それ（コイン）を浮かせよう！
- それを沈ませちゃだめだよ！
- 難しいー。
- 簡単だよ。
- 勝った！ / わたしたちは勝った！
- それは浮いている！
- ああ、それは沈んだ。
実験をした後
浮いている硬貨や沈んだ硬貨
またはすべての硬貨を
子供と一緒に数えることで
数を勉強することもできます。
After doing the experiment, you could also practice counting numbers by counting the floating coins or the sunken coins or all the coins together with your kids!
